Forensics I Syllabus

2024-2025

Welcome! Students enrolled in the Forensics I course for the 2024-2025 school year will be exposed to various introductory skills and information surrounding the field of forensic science and investigation, such as evidence collection, fingerprinting, DNA technology, blood types, and hair analysis. Coursework will include activities, labs, discussions, and projects. Students should arrive to class on time, ready to learn, and prepared with a computer, class binder, and writing utensils. 

Forensics I is a semester class, earning 0.5 science credits. Students will meet every other day for approximately 75 minutes. 

TOPICS OF STUDY:

  1. Introduction to Forensic Science
  2. Crime Scene Investigation 
  3. Biological Evidence
  4. Fingerprint Analysis
  5. Documents Analysis
  6. Final Project

GRADING:

Grading is based on a point system. Assignments will fall under one of the following categories, depending on value and length:

  • 10-25 points - Participation & Homework
  • 25-50 points - Quizzes & Labs
  • 50-100 points - Tests & Projects

CLASSROOM POLICIES:

Phones: Cell phones will be collected at the beginning of class. All headphones and earbuds must also be put away during class unless otherwise directed by the instructor.

Food & Drink: Food and drinks are allowed but must be put away during lab activities. 

Extra Credit: It’s not an option, so please don’t ask.
