Physical Education Syllabus
These are the 8 units for Fall semester Physical Education. Each unit will last approximately 8-10 classes. We will be focused on lifetime games and outdoor recreation. Fitness will be part of every unit.

2. Ultimate Frisbee
3. Archery
4. Outdoor fun
5. Fitness
6. Badminton
7. Pickleball
8. Tables Tennis
Course Objectives/Student Outcomes. Students will:
- Gain an understanding of how to engage in lifelong recreational activities for exercise and stress reduction.
- Be able to work cooperatively both in individual activities and as a team.
- Develop an appreciation and application of the importance of regular physical activity.
Grading Policy:
Students will receive a daily participation grade at the end of each class
A student must attend a minimum of 70% of the scheduled classes to be eligible for a passing grade
Students who do not change into appropriate gym clothes will only receive 1/2 credit for the days participation
EFFORT-PARTICIPATION
GRADING RUBRIC
90-100 * Always puts forth 100% Effort. Displays enthusiasm and interest in activities
Uses time efficiently to pursue challenging physical goals
Is working at a challenging level and willing to accept new challenges
80-90 * Usually puts forth 100% effort
Is involved in most aspects of P.E. class
Usually works hard with occasional lapses
Willingly participates in all activities – demonstrates consistent effort
70-80 * Requires prompting to put forth an acceptable level of effort
Exerts good effort if the teacher is watching, if with friends, if winning, if good at the activity
Participates in most activities (inconsistent effort)
Participates selectively in activities
0-69 * Continually puts in little or no effort
Avoids participation –opts out most of the time
Engages in socializing and off-task behavior
Is uninterested in activity –ie. “ I can’t” “This is boring” “This isn’t fun”
Class Rules
Be on time
No Cell Phone use in class
No horseplay in the locker room
Do not leave the gym without permission
At the end of class wait in the gym or locker room for the bell.
Must be in appropriate gym clothes to receive full credit.
