EEOL Syllabus


    •    This course is designed to enrich the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth of students by utilizing a wide range of content areas and incorporating the natural resources and opportunities of the Blue Hill Peninsula, Acadia National Park, and the state of Maine into the daily class experience. 
 
Through class instruction and content, guest speakers, group projects, field trips, and willingness to be pioneers in this course, students will develop the following areas:
    ◦    interpersonal skills, such as leadership, communication, trust building, and group problem-solving and decision-making;
    ◦    knowledge of a wide range of related topics;
    ◦    confidence and self-esteem by facing new challenges and adversity;
    ◦    lifelong skills, such as planning and organizing field experience, orienteering
    ◦    added purpose, relevance, connections, motivation for classroom work;
    ◦    reverence for life, nature, and our role as stewards.

  Basic Flat water Canoe skills & Safety
 
 Orienteering- Learning to use a map & compass

 Local Tree Identification

 Learning to make a safe campfire

Planning & Cooking a meal for classmates

Survival Shelters

Snow Activities ( If we get snow)

Hiking


Grading Policy

Students will receive a daily participation grade

Students will receive grades on special projects

All grades carry the same weight.
