Graded Assessments: Class Participation, Lab Projects, Quizzes, Homework, and Tests will make up 100% of your grade. There will be no final exam in this class.

Class Participation: This is a weekly grade that will be given based on behavior and effort in class discussions and labs.

Homework and Quizzes: Homework and quizzes carry the same grade value. I use quizzes to gauge how well students are understanding course materials. That I will know if we need to spend more time on a specific unit.

Lab Projects: Lab projects grades are based on behavior and effort while performing the assigned lab.

Tests: Tests will be given on Canvas and will be true or false, multiply choice, or fill in the blank.

Late Policies on Homework: Homework should be done on time. It is very important to do these assignments so students are ready to participate in classroom discussions and activities! Occasionally responsible students will be allowed to turn these assignments in late without penalty because of personal needs.

Late Policy on Graded Assessments: Students will get two free late assignments without penalty. All other late assignments will lose 10 points per day for everyday it is late.

Effort Participation Rubric:

96-100 Student goes above and beyond by helping a fellow student who is struggling. Or does more than is assigned or expected.

90-95 Student does what is assigned with good effort and uses safe shop practices.

80-89 Student does what is assigned but the effort, behavior, or safety were not what is expected.

60-79 Student requires prompting to get engaged in what is assigned or behavior and or  to be redirected and is not acting in a safe or acceptable manner.

0-59 Student constantly needs to be redirected and safety practices were not acceptable.

I want each and everyone of my students to succeed in my class! I am also committed to making sure you get the most you can out of this class! If you are struggling in this class JUST COME FORWARD AND WE WILL GET YOU THE HELP YOU NEED TO SUCCEED!! I have the following goals for this class: you will learn how a small engine operates, you will learn how a small engine is constructed, and you will learn how to perform basic repairs and troubleshoot a small engine that will not run.

Course Summary: The first part of this course we will learn safe shop practices and how a small engine operates. The last part of this course will be spent performing basic maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing small engines.
